Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 - Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a quiet neighborhood located on the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. The West Island has a lot of different communities. People who have never known about it may confuse it with a separate island facing west. It is often cited as being the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay there was short. Brugel grew up in Courtice outside Oshawa Ontario. The first goal she had was to pursue a career as an actress but after a sudden growth spurt her partners were no longer able to dance with her. In an article published by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall and wears heels. Once I surpassed my male counterparts and stopped dancing, I quit. Numerous former dancers choose to become actors. In the case of Brugel it was because of the advice of her drama teacher at her high school which pushed her to take the step she wanted. She was encouraged to try out for roles in the school's production. She auditioned and was eventually cast as the role of the main character in Anne of Green Gables. When she was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Brugel's career spans over 20 years and she's performed in more than 60 shows that have screened on large screens and smaller ones. Her most recognizable role was the one of Rita (pictured in the below photo) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel made an appearance on only a handful of moments in the very first season of the series The Handmaid's tale. She was the sole Canadian participant.
